My Story

 

Short Story:

I'm a former science major gone mad discovering the perfect recipe for vegan, gluten-free, nut-free caramels.

Longer Story:

Embracing my love for animals and veganism:

I became a vegetarian before people even knew what a vegetarian was.  At the age of six I came home from school and told my parents that I was never going to eat my animal friends again. I became a vegetarian and have not eaten or used animal products since. Back then, when my family went out to eat, I would ask the server if there were any vegetarian options. They would look at me quizzically and then turn to my parents and ask if I was saying I was a veterinarian (insert eye roll!). It is certainly a different scene these days!

The Missing Piece:

I longed for the indulgent taste of caramel and its perfect ability to satisfy my sweet craving with one piece but wanted it to be cruelty-free. It was this yearning that sparked the idea for Petunia Amelie Caramelerie! 

Artisanal Delights:

During my bachelor's degree days, my chemistry prof gave me the highest final grade she had EVER given. In coming up with my recipes, I am channeling that chemistry star of days gone by.

I create decadent caramel that satisfies your sweet cravings without compromising your principles. Each batch is artisanally crafted with the finest plant-based ingredients, and infused with passion. Our caramel is also gluten-free and nut-free but is produced in a facility where those items are used. Beyond satisfying cravings, we strive to use locally sourced fruits in partnership with Southern California farmers.
